Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has conceded that he can only stand and applaud the way Manchester City have dominated the Premier League this season.

Manchester City’s dreams of a quadruple crashed and burned at the DW Stadium last night when Wigan Athletic came up with a shock 1-0 win to knock them out of the FA Cup in the fifth round.

However, they could win their first trophy of the season at the weekend when they take on Arsenal in EFL Cup final at Wembley and are currently 16 points clear at the top of the league table.

Manchester City are unlikely to lose their grip on the league title this season and Fabregas insisted that what Pep Guardiola’s men have done this season is not normal in England by any stretch of the imagination.

The Chelsea midfielder admits there is little other teams can do at the moment but stand and applaud their excellence this term.

The Spaniard told Radio Marca when asked about Manchester City: “They have been eliminated from the FA Cup, but what they have done in the Premier League is not normal.

“Their pursuit of the title deserves praise and the only thing that remains for us to do is applaud them.”

Manchester City have also taken a giant leap towards the quarter-finals of the Champions League when they beat Basel 4-0 in Switzerland last week in the first leg of their last 16 tie.
