AC Milan have not been in any recent contact with Antonio Conte as they consider offering a long term contract to Gennaro Gattuso.

Conte has been linked with a return to Italy since last summer when Inter tried hard to snare him away from Chelsea, amidst talk of discord between the Italian and the club’s board.

He has been tipped to become the next Italy head coach and AC Milan have also been keeping tabs on him since sacking Vincenzo Montella in November.

However, the mood at the San Siro has changed regarding Conte and according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, there has been no contact between his representatives and the Rossoneri in recent weeks.

And a big part of AC Milan’s changing priorities has been the performance of Gattuso, who took charge of the first team following Montella’s dismissal.
