Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has opened up to the idea of becoming the Italy national team head coach again at the end of the season.

The former Juventus boss’ future at Chelsea has been the subject of constant speculation since last summer and there are rumours of discord between him and the club’s hierarchy.

The Chelsea top bosses are unhappy with Conte complaining about their transfer strategy and the Italian has also been left unhappy by the support he has received in the last few transfer windows.

There have been rumours that Conte will leave Chelsea at the end of the season regardless of results, but the Italian has always insisted that he wants to honour his contract.

Following the 1-1 draw against Barcelona on Tuesday night, he stressed that Chelsea will also need to agree to keep him if he is to honour his current deal, which runs until the end of next season.

But according to Italian daily Tuttosport, Conte is already planning his next move and is open to the idea of taking charge of the Italy national team again in the summer.

The Azzurri are on the lookout for a new coach and the Chelsea manager has been their top choice given his record at club level and his performance as Italy coach during his previous stint.

Claudio Ranieri and Roberto Mancini are also in the mix, but Italy would prefer Conte if he is prepared to take up the job.
