Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega has conceded that his team could regret not scoring and letting Manchester United off the hook on Wednesday night.

A solid defensive performance led by David de Gea’s heroics in goal helped Manchester United to escape with a 0-0 draw at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan following a disjointed European away performance.

Luis Muriel’s shot was saved by De Gea at point blank range at the end of the first half and Sevilla created several other situations where they could have punished Manchester United for their lacklustre football.

And Banega admits that Manchester United could make them pay for their shoddy finishing in the second leg at Old Trafford.

“The team were aware what kind of game we had to play against United”, the Sevilla midfielder told beIN Sports.

“But in these games you have to score to not have regrets later.”

The midfielder stressed that importance of Sevilla keeping their heads in the second leg as he believes they will get their opportunities at Old Trafford too.

“We have to remain calm as we will get our chances to score if we play like today.”

Manchester United will host Sevilla in close to three weeks’ time for the second leg at Old Trafford on 13th March.
