Derby County attacking midfielder Kasey Palmer believes the Rams dominated Leeds United for the entire contest on Wednesday night, but admits the draw might prove to be a crucial point by the end of the campaign.

The youngster, who joined the Rams from Chelsea on loan in January, found the back of the net in second half injury time to help his side earn a 2-2 draw at Pride Park.

It was Palmer’s first goal for Derby and the 21-year-old was introduced in the 75th minute, with the scoreline then level at 1-1.

After Andreas Weimann cancelled out Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s opener in the first half, Ezgjan Alioski once again restored Leeds’ lead in the 79th minute, but Palmer struck late on to help his side pick up a point.

And the starlet, who explained that he is experiencing mixed emotions after the game, felt Derby dominated proceedings at Pride Park.

“Hopefully it works out to be an important point, but we are disappointed at not being able to pick up the three points”, Palmer said on Rams TV.

“I thought we dominated the whole game so we are a bit disappointed, but I’m delighted to score my first goal for the club.

“I’m delighted for my goal, but disappointed with the result.

“No one can say we are happy with a point, but you never know how the season is going to go – we can get promotion by one point or something might happen with that one point.”

Palmer, who spent the first half of the present campaign and the whole of last season on loan at Huddersfield Town, is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea.
