Celtic defender Marvin Compper has revealed that he is desperate to convince Brendan Rodgers to play him in the Glasgow derby on Sunday.

Compper joined Celtic from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window, but a calf injury meant that he only made his debut for the club last weekend in the Scottish FA Cup against Greenock Morton.

With Rangers just six points behind the Scottish champions, Sunday’s Glasgow derby at Ibrox has seen renewed interest and Celtic are keen to end their rivals’ flickering title hopes.

Compper is yet to play in a league game for Celtic this season, but he admits that like everyone else in the squad, he is also desperate to play in the big game against Rangers.

And the January signing is keen to impress Rodgers in training this week in order to the make the squad for the Glasgow derby on Sunday.
