Anderlecht remain sceptical about involving on loan Everton forward Henry Onyekuru again this season as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury.

Everton signed the forward from Eupen last summer amidst competition from Arsenal and immediately loaned out the Nigerian to Belgian giants Anderlecht.

Onyekuru was in fine form until suffering a serious knee injury in a game against his former club Eupen and has since been working hard to return to pitch before the end of the season.

Anderlecht and the Nigerian medical team believed the forward needed surgery, but Everton advocated the player recuperating without going under the knife.

Onyekuru is still recovering, but there is a chance he could be back in action before the end of the season and the player is keen as well as he wants to be part of Nigeria’s World Cup squad.

However, according to Belgian outlet DH, Anderlecht are still unsure about involving Onyekuru again this season and risking a bigger injury as they remain sceptical about the forward’s recuperation.

Anderlecht coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck is not completely against the notion of the Nigerian player, but he wants to be sure whether he can put in any meaningful contribution towards the end of the season.

He scored ten goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Anderlecht before being stretchered off against Eupen in December.
