Inter Milan striker Andrea Pinamonti believes Manchester United hitman Zlatan Ibrahimovic does not need to win the Champions League or Ballon d'Or to go down as one of the greats of the game.

Ibrahimovic’s knee injury last year has hampered his opportunities at Manchester United this season and he is expected to leave the club in the summer after one good campaign with the Red Devils.

The Swede is expected to move to the United States with an MLS team but there have also been rumours that he could bow out of the game completely at the end of the season.

Ibrahimovic has won countless trophies during his career and barring at Manchester United, he has won the league title at every club he played for.

The lack of a Champions League trophy in his cabinet has been used as a criticism against him, but Pinamonti feels the Manchester United striker doesn’t need that.

Revealing his admiration for the former Nerazzurri, the Inter striker believes Ibrahimovic will be fondly remembered by many despite him not being the best of his generation.

Pinamonti was quoted as saying by FcInterNews when asked whose shoes he would want to be in for a day: “As a footballer Ibrahimovic, for the fact that when he was Inter I always admired him.

"Even though he eventually left, he has always been my role model.

“Technically he was extraordinary and I would like to know how it feels to be him for a day.

“He has never won the Champions League or the Ballon d’Or but at the end of your career you remember the trophies you won and he has a huge roll call of honours.

“You don’t need to be the best to be remembered.”

Ibrahimovic has made just five Premier League appearances this season after recovering from the knee injury.
