Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists that he is not interested in the "favourite" or "underdog" tags ahead of the second leg of the Reds' Champions League quarter-final tie against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

The Reds thrashed the Citizens 3-0 in the first leg of the quarter-final at Anfield last week and already have one foot in the semi-finals.

The German manager though believes that the job is far from over given the fact that Liverpool will be playing at the home of the team that are so close to winning the Premier League title.

"First of all, I’m not interested in these kinds of labels – favourites and underdogs", Klopp said at a press conference while speaking about whether his team's approach will change owing to the lead.

"It is common sense to say if you play in the Champions League [knockout] stage against the winners of the Premier League, that you are not the favourite. That’s what we were last week."

The Champions League, according to Klopp, is played over the course of two legs and the task will be the same, that is to go and win the match. For Klopp, nothing has changed and there is still work left to do.

"For me, the whole game is about these two legs, so I am not interested in what changed.

"How it always is in football, you have to go into the lead, you want to score goals, and in the end the final whistle will decide who has won the game.

"That didn’t change.

"We are only in the lead, no problem with that and it is better than I could have expected – but we all know, and I think you all know, there is still a lot of work to do.

"That’s why we are here and not thinking about who is now favourite or whatever.

"It’s all about going to the next round – that’s what we will try to do tomorrow."

Pep Guardiola's side will be desperate to bounce back after having lost back-to-back matches against Liverpool in the Champions League and Manchester United in the Premier League.
