Pep Guardiola has admitted that Manchester City need to produce the perfect game to knock Liverpool out and progress to the Champions League semi-final stage.

Manchester City were stunned by Liverpool in the first leg of their quarter-final tie at Anfield and suffered a hugely damagaing 3-0 defeat which means the odds are stacked against them at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola has not written off a Manchester City comeback on Tuesday night, but knows his men must do everything right to make their dream happen.

And he stressed the Citizens have 90 minutes to turn the tie around, meaning if one chance if not taken they must then try to take the next.

"Of course to go through you have to make almost the perfect game – create chances, be clinical and concede few chances", he said at a press conference.

"All the conditions have to be perfect to go through.

"But you have 90 minutes and in football everything can happen. We are going to try and we will see.

"Every time we play against Liverpool we know each other.

"We have to play better to beat them, you cannot forget it’s a simple game.

"We have to focus on what we do. If we concede a goal, don’t give up.

"And if we are not clinical, okay, next one, next one, next one", Guardiola added.

The former Barcelona boss will have to pick his players up from a weekend of disappointment as Manchester City failed to take their chance to win the Premier League title, being beaten at home by rivals Manchester United.
