Brendan Rodgers would leave Celtic to take over at Premier League side Arsenal in the summer if offered the job at the Emirates Stadium, it has been claimed.

The former Liverpool manager has been mooted as a contender to become the new Arsenal boss if the Gunners, as expected, end Arsene Wenger's long reign.

Rodgers has boosted his standing in the game with his spell at Celtic, which saw the Bhoys win a domestic treble without losing a game last season, while they are again on course to win another domestic treble this term.

And Arsenal could be tempted to offer Rodgers a route back into the Premier League.

According to BBC Sport Scotland reporter Chris McLaughlin, speaking on BBC Sportscene Extra, Rodgers would take the post at the Emirates Stadium if offered.

He insisted however that he does not feel Rodgers will be offered the Arsenal job.

Celtic fans are hoping that Rodgers can resist the temptation to head back south of the border, with the Northern Irishman having made sure trophies and Champions League football have flowed at Paradise.
