Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl is not ruling out the club reappointing former coach Lucien Favre, who has been linked with being a contender to take charge at Arsenal.

Favre has been catching the eye with his work at French Ligue 1 side Nice and could be on the move in the summer.

They 60-year-old was handed the chance to take charge of Everton in 2016, but did not want to wait to head to Goodison Park and took over at Nice.

He was in the dugout at Gladbach between 2011 and 2015, and remains a popular figure at the Bundesliga side.

And Eberl will not rule out an eventual return for the Swiss coach.

"It is conceivable at some point [that he could return]", Eberl told German daily Bild.

"Lucien did a good job at Gladbach.

"I always worked very well with him.

"It was a crucial partnership and we had a good time."

Favre provided Champions League football for Gladbach during his time in charge, but resigned at the start of the 2015/16 campaign after a poor opening five games.

At present Gladbach sit in eighth spot in the Bundesliga after a mixed campaign.

It remains to be seen whether Favre would opt to return to Gladbach if given the choice between the club and taking over at Arsenal.
