There is no evidence Liverpool are making an effort to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Amadou Diawara from Napoli, it has been claimed.

The 20-year-old defensive midfielder’s future at Napoli has been under the scanner with suggestions that a number of clubs in England are eyeing signing him.

Tottenham were reportedly in talks with his representatives, but his agent has denied any negotiations with the north London club, while there are also suggestions that Arsenal are keeping tabs on the Napoli man.

Some recent speculation suggested that Liverpool have joined the chase for Diawara as Jurgen Klopp steps up his efforts to replace Emre Can in his squad next season.

However, talk of any move from Liverpool has been played down as according to Italian broadcaster Rai Sport, there is no evidence that the Reds are moving to try to sign the Napoli star.

Diawara’s agent has also indicated that the midfielder is keen to continue at Napoli and has claimed that he has not been in talks with any club over a transfer.

He is yet to secure a regular place in Napoli’s team this season, but with Jorginho a potential departure, the former Bologna player could get more opportunities to play next term.

Diawara has a contract until 2021 with Napoli.
