Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom is ready to make do without a good performance if it means beating Aston Villa at Villa Park on Friday.

Heckingbottom's side produced a good 45 minutes at Deepdale on Tuesday night, but crumbled in the second half to go down to a 3-1 defeat; Leeds had been leading 1-0 at the break.

The pressure is now mounting on Heckingbottom, despite the former Barnsley boss having only been in the job since February and not having had a single transfer window to reshape the squad.

Heckingbottom is now keen for his men to return to winning ways, with the performance now secondary to the result in the side's next match, against Aston Villa on Friday.

"I'm ready for playing garbage against Villa and winning 1-0, I'm not bothered", Heckingbottom told a press conference.

"When we look back at the game the process is the same, game plan, do we follow it – you've got to give them credit for all those things.

"But at the end of the day it's about winning games. That is it."

Leeds and Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw at Elland Road in December, at which time the Whites still had genuine promotion ambitions.

Steve Bruce's Villa sit in fourth spot in the Championship, but have won just two of their last six games as they limp towards the end of the campaign.

Leeds meanwhile have won just one of their last six matches and are 14th.
