Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks is in Qatar as he continues his rehabilitation from an ankle injury.

Winks' ankle issue has kept him out of the second half of the season for Spurs and Pochettino admits it is a cause of some concern for the north London club.

But he is hopeful that a spell in Qatar working to recover will mean that the young midfielder can eventually return to first team training.

Speaking about Winks at a press conference, Pochettino provided an update and said: "He is in Qatar, doing rehab.

"We will see what happens", the Argentine continued.

"We hope after that period he can come back fixing his problem and try again to be in the group training.

"But yes of course we are a little bit concerned about his situation."

Winks, 22, has made 16 appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham in the current campaign, but has not played a league game since 2017.

Tottenham will hope that Winks' time in Qatar can help him to overcome his ankle injury, with the midfielder surely looking to put himself on course to join in pre-season training ahead of next term.
