Jose Mourinho has steered clear of providing any clues towards Anthony Martial’s long term future at Manchester United.

The Manchester United forward’s opportunities to play from the start have been limited since Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from Arsenal in the January window and there is speculation over his future at the club.

Amidst interest from clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur, Martial is said to be seeking assurances about his playing time before agreeing to sign a new contract with the club.

Martial was getting more opportunities in the starting eleven before Sanchez joined in January, but Mourinho refused to provide any indicators over the Frenchman’s future at the club.

He stressed that he can only give eleven players a starting spot amongst a squad of 22.

The Manchester United manager said in a press conference when asked about Martial’s situation: “If I was you I would go why [Romelu] Lukaku plays every match, why [Nemanja] Matic plays every match.

“You always go to the one, the answer is if you want what I call dry answers.

“I have dry answers and a dry answer is only eleven can start the match and we are 22.”

Martial has remained an unused substitute in Manchester United’s last two Premier League games.
