Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has vowed to show respect to rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park on Sunday.

The Glasgow-based sides have faced each other on three occasions this season, with Celtic winning two of the contests and one ending in a 0-0 draw.

The stakes will be high for the Gers this time around after they came close to snatching a win against their rivals the last time around, though they eventually lost the match 3-2.

Rodgers' team on the other hand have reasons of their own to look for a victory at Hampden as it will clear their path for a treble win this season, taking them one step closer to the Scottish Cup trophy.

The former Liverpool manager insists that his team are not in the habit of taking their opponents lightly and won't do it against their rivals in such a big match.

“This is the game they [Rangers] were cheering for. For us, we always respect every opponent we play and get ready for the game", the manager told his club's official website.

“Every manager and group is different.

"One of the values of this club is about humility. We respect every opponent we play and we just prepare for the game.

“I think for all four teams in the semi-final, there’s something riding on it.

"Every team wants to win. There’s always something to play for, for us all. In these types of games, there’s no favourite really.

"We just want to continue with our great form at Hampden.”
