Tottenham Hospur boss Mauricio Pochettino admits that defender Davinson Sanchez has impressed him, but believes that there is still scope for improvement from the Colombian.

The 21-year-old was snapped up by the Lilywhites last summer from Ajax on a six-year deal and has since established himself as a first team regular for his Argentine manager.

The former Southampton manager on his part has expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his defender, insisting that the Colombian, in spite of his age, has shown maturity showing strength, speed and character every time he has taken to the pitch.

There is still need for improvement though, Pochettino feels, insisting that the needs to understand his situation and be open to learning.

“It’s fantastic what he’s been doing, his performances have been fantastic but he’s still young and we need to be happy but also to understand that he needs to improve, he needs to learn”, Pochettino told his club's official website.

“His performance at Chelsea was fantastic.

"He’s only 21, he’s so strong, so fast, aggressive but at the same time, like all players, he’s focusing every day on trying to improve and learn."

Sanchez has so far taken part in 37 overall matches for the Lilywhites including 26 in the league.

And the former Ajax man has just missed four Premier League games since his debut against Burnley in August.
