Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino admits that if his side are to reach Manchester City's level then they must do it a different way to the route taken by the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola's side headed into Saturday evening's Premier League meeting at Wembley against Spurs on a run of three consecutive defeats and with question marks being asked about their character.

But they wasted no time in shutting up their critics and were 2-0 up by just the 25th minute as they cruised to a 3-1 win which ended Spurs' record of 14 games unbeaten.

Manchester City have splashed the cash in recent years and as such, Pochettino admits that Spurs must take a different route to get to the Citizens' level.

Asked about what is needed to reach Manchester City's level, Pochettino told his post-match press conference: "I think you know, the people know, we know, that of course we are working in a different way to them.

"We cannot compare to them. Of course, we need to work hard to try to achieve or reach the level of Manchester City.

"I think we still need to work a lot and of course, in the way that we try maybe one day we can reach [their level].

"Of course if you want you work hard, but then sometimes it's not easy", the Tottenham manager added.

With five games left for Spurs to play in the Premier League this season, they sit in fourth spot and hold a seven-point lead over fifth placed Chelsea.
