Bayer Leverkusen captain Lars Bender has urged Arsenal and Chelsea linked winger Leon Bailey to maintain his focus and seek to continue to improve.

The Jamaican winger has been turning heads with his performances in the Bundesliga this season and has been one of the most in-form creative players in Germany.

Bailey’s performances have led to interest from some of the big clubs in England and there are suggestions that Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have been keeping tabs on the winger.

However, Bender believes despite his team-mate's impressive numbers this season, the winger still has some way to go and needs to continue to improve his game.

The club captain is certain that Bailey wants to reach the next level and indicated that he keen to see the winger focus on Leverkusen rather than the speculation surrounding his future.

“Leon has enormous potential”, Bender told Sport Buzzer.

“Many see his goals and assists, there are of course arguments that speak in his favour, but he knows that he still needs to work on himself.

“One can tell that he wants to move to the next level in all the areas of his game.

“I hope he keeps his focus on Bayer Leverkusen.”

Bailey, who joined Leverkusen from Genk in January last year, has a contract until 2022 with the club.
