Leicester City manager Claude Puel has ruled out the possibility of selling Manchester United linked defender Harry Maguire in the summer.

The England defender’s stock has risen since he joined Leicester from Hull last summer and he has been one of the most consistent central defenders in the Premier League.

His performances have led to England call-ups and have also attracted the attention of the big wigs of English football, with Manchester United said to be keeping tabs on him.

Jose Mourinho is expected to invest heavily in his defence this summer and Maguire is believed to have emerged as a Premier League proven target for the Red Devils.

However, Puel insisted that Leicester won’t be selling the central defender and stressed that the club want to build a team around a player of Maguire’s quality in the coming years.

Asked about the speculation surrounding the centre half, the Leicester manager said in a press conference: “Harry is a valuable player for us and I want to build my team around him.

“It is speculation.

"He is a fantastic player, and good to have this quality at Leicester.”

Asked to confirm whether the defender will not be sold, Puel said: “Of course.”
