Former Hibernian forward Tam McManus believes Graeme Murty has been exposed as out of depth in the Rangers manager’s job, but feels he has not been helped by the club’s supremo Dave King.

Rangers have handed out suspensions to Kenny Miller and club captain Lee Wallace on disciplinary grounds following their angry clash with manager Murty following the weekend's 4-0 defeat against Celtic in the Scottish Cup.

The two were involved in a heated bust up with the Rangers manager as they read the riot act following the defeat, and it has led to another off the field incident at Ibrox.

The two are claimed to be unlikely to play for Rangers again, but McManus feels the two reacted furiously as they care for the club and after such a heavy defeat, harsh words were to be expected from senior players.

The former Hibs striker admits that it is certain that Murty is not good enough to be Rangers manager, but he also feels club chairman King and the rest of the board have also not helped the rookie coach’s cause.

“Two guys who care deeply about Rangers”, reacting to Miller and Wallace’s suspensions, McManus wrote on Twitter.

“Think it’s obvious now Murty is way out his depth but he has been thrown to the lions on and off the park by Dave King & Co.”

He added: “After that embarrassing performance [I] would have expected strong words from the experienced players.”
