PSV Eindhoven sporting director Marcel Brands has insisted that the club will keep trying to sign Chelsea loanee Marco van Ginkel on a permanent contract in the summer.

Van Ginkel joined Chelsea from Vitesse in 2013 and has only made four senior appearances for his parent club to date and has spent most of time on loan spells at different clubs.

Loan stints at Stoke and AC Milan didn’t lead to long term solutions, but Van Ginkel has found success at PSV since joining the club in the winter transfer window of 2016.

The midfielder has helped PSV to the league title in the Netherlands this season, but is scheduled to return to Chelsea in the summer, where he has a contract until 2020.

Van Ginkel is expected to be on the chopping block at Chelsea again and Brands stressed that PSV will do everything to re-sign the Dutchman as they look to approach the Blues for a permanent deal.

The PSV deal-maker was quoted as saying by the Algemeen Dagblad: “Even if we have a one per cent change, we’ll keep trying.

“Marco is of enormous importance to us, just like a number of other players.”

Van Ginkel is believed to be in favour of returning to PSV next season, but knows his future lies in Chelsea’s hands.
