Former AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has admitted he will be rooting for Roma in the Champions League semi-finals as Liverpool's comeback against the Rossoneri in Istanbul still leaves a bitter taste in his mouth.

Liverpool were 3-0 down in the Champions League final in Turkey, but scored three times in the second half to force extra time and then beat AC Milan on penalties to win their fifth European Cup.

The Reds are set to face Roma in the semi-final of this year's competition as they zero in on what would be their sixth European Cup.

But despite Roma being AC Milan's Serie A rivals, Galliani admits he wants the capital club to dump Liverpool out.

"On 2nd May I will be watching the match and I will be in Rome, because whoever wins abroad wins for everyone, even if in Italy we are rivals", Galliani, recently elected as an Italian senator, told Dire Politico.

"We were winning 3-0 and lost the cup.

Liverpool, who saw off Manchester City in the quarter-final, will start as favourites to see off the challenge from Roma.

But the Italian giants overturned the odds in their quarter-final tie when they ended Barcelona's push for the Champions League.

Liverpool host Roma in the first leg on 24th April, before then heading to Italy for the return on 2nd May.
