Brian McClair has revealed his admiration for Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths, as the hitman closes in on joining him in the 100-goal club.

Griffiths has 98 goals for Celtic to his name and is tipped to enter the 100-goal club, of which McClair is a member, before the season ends.

The Celtic hitman has often struggled to command a starting spot under Brendan Rodgers this term, but McClair is happy to see Griffiths retain a positive attitude throughout.

And he also saluted the many different ways the striker often scores his goals.

McClair said on Celtic TV: "I do like him as a player. I like goalscorers and Leigh scores goals – and goals in all different ways as well.

"I like him as well because a lot of times he's maybe not considered to be in the starting eleven that Brendan would maybe choose, but when he comes on he's always full of enthusiasm.

"I think as a team-mate that's great because you don't want players to be sulking.

"I don't ever see Leigh sulking when he's not playing."

Griffiths is all set to help Celtic to a historic double treble this season, with the Bhoys having drubbed rivals Rangers 4-0 at the weekend to book a Scottish Cup final clash against Motherwell.

Celtic can officially seal the Scottish Premiership title this weekend when they head to Easter Road to play Hibernian.
