Arsene Wenger is certain that Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will sort out his future before the end of the season.

Wilshere is out of contract in the summer and Arsenal have offered him a new long term contract but the midfielder is yet to put pen to papers to extend his stay at his boyhood club.

Arsenal are set to have offered him a highly incentivised contract with a lower basic pay compared to his current deal and Wilshere is not entirely convinced about signing the terms on offer.

With only a month or two left on his current deal, Wilshere is cutting it close when it comes to making a decision, but Wenger insisted that the club have not set a deadline for the player.

However, he is confident that Wilshere will make his decision before the end of the season as he doesn’t believe the midfielder would want to potentially go to the World Cup with his future hanging in the balance.

Asked if the club have set a deadline for Wilshere to sign a new contract, Wenger said in a press conference: “He has the freedom to make that decision. He knows I want him to stay.

“I hope at some stage he will. He is focused on the next game and will make his decision later.

“I think he will make that decision before the end of the season.

“I don’t think he will want to go to the World Cup without sorting his situation.”

Wilshere has attracted interest from West Ham and Everton in England and there are also suggestions that AC Milan and Juventus in Italy are keeping tabs on him.
