Borussia Dortmund are not prepared to pay over the odds for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi despite having an interest in signing him on a permanent contract.

Batshuayi joined Dortmund on loan from Chelsea in January and had a successful spell in Germany before his stint was cut short last weekend due to an ankle injury

The striker is expected to be fit before Belgium’s World Cup campaign starts in June and Dortmund are set to keep a close watch on his performances in Russia in the summer.

Dortmund tried but failed to include a purchase option when they signed Batshuayi from Chelsea in January but they remain keen to sign the striker on a permanent contract.

There are suggestions that Chelsea have identified an asking price of around the £50m mark for a player who they are not keen to let go on a permanent basis.

And it seems Dortmund might not agree to meet the figure as well as according to German magazine Sport Bild, the club have no intention of paying over the odds for Batshuayi despite their interest.

BVB are also aware any move for the Belgian will have to wait until the end of the World Cup and a good performance in Russia could even increase his market value.

Dortmund want Batshuayi to return to the Westfalenstadion for next season but not at any price.
