Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco admits that it is natural for Giallorossi supporters to treat the Liverpool game as more important than others, but he has insisted that his team have a still lot more to do in the league this season.

The Serie A giants scored a 2-1 win over Genoa on Wednesday night and moved a point clear of Inter in the race for a top four finish in the Italian top tier.

With five games left in the league season, Roma are involved in a fight with local rivals Lazio and Inter for a place in the top four and guaranteed Champions League football next term.

However, the Stadio Olimpico was not at capacity for such a key league game against Genoa and Di Francesco admits that it is normal that the fans are treating the upcoming Champions League first leg of their semi-final tie against Liverpool as more important.

He admits the mood around the stadium was different as Roma are not used to playing in big occasions such as a Champions League semi-final but he pointed out that there is a lot more at stake in the league at the moment.

And he insisted that his players won’t lose focus when it comes to the league despite the mouthwatering tie against Liverpool.

The Roma coach told Italian broadcaster Premium Sport when asked about Liverpool fever around the club and their fans: “It’s going around in the atmosphere.

"Today there were fewer people at the stadium as they are already thinking about something more important.

“However, in the league we still have a lot left to do. But it is inevitable, as Roma are not used to playing in a Champions League semi-final.”

He added: “But I and my team won’t have to think about it now.

"We will focus on the league and then try to do our best against Liverpool.”
