Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has revealed his pride at getting the opportunity to lead the side out against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

De Gea has again been named in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2017/18 season and his display at Dean Court capped it off brilliantly for the Spaniard after he was given the armband against Bournemouth.

The Manchester United goalkeeper had an uneventful night on the south coast as his side cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Eddie Howe’s team and consolidated their position in the league table behind champions-elect Manchester City.

However, the night was special for De Gea as he captained the Red Devils for the first time since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011.

After an initial difficult spell, the Spaniard has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is considered the top custodian operating in the Premier League at the moment.
