AC Milan have been offered the chance to sign Arsenal and Manchester United defensive target Sokratis Papastathopoulos ahead of the summer window.

The defender’s future at Borussia Dortmund has come under the microscope and there are suggestions that he could part ways with the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season.

Dortmund are open to offers for Sokratis in the summer, but they have offered a new contract, which the 29-year-old central defender is yet to sign as he assesses his options.

Sokratis is believed to be on the radar of Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United and even Italian champions Juventus have been linked with having an interest in him.

And according to Italian daily Tuttosport, his entourage approached AC Milan in recent weeks to discuss the possibility of the Greek moving to the San Siro in the summer.

Sokratis is looking for a way out of the Westfalenstadion and it seems the defender could be interested in a move to the Rossoneri.

However, Dortmund’s asking price, believed to be around the €15m to €20m mark, is too steep for AC Milan and for the moment, the defender’s entourage have received a lukewarm response.

Sokratis has a contract until the end of next season with Dortmund.
