Former Chelsea star Jason Cundy is not optimistic about Tottenham Hotspur dropping enough points in their remaining games to allow the Blues back into the top four this season.

Chelsea closed the gap to five points with their 2-1 win over Burnley on Thursday night and there are suggestions that the top four race could get spicier towards the end of the season.

The west Londoners looked down and out in the race for a Champions League place, but Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester City last weekend has allowed them to claw their way back.

However, with just four league games left to play for both teams, Cundy feels Tottenham are not going to stutter enough for Chelsea to earn a ten-point swing and sneak into the Champions League spots.

Reacting to suggestions that Chelsea could still finish in the top four if Tottenham drop points, the former Blue wrote on Twitter: “Not enough [points].

“No chance.”

Chelsea have trips left to Swansea City and Newcastle United and will host Liverpool and Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge in the remaining league games.

Barring an away trip to West Brom, Tottenham have home games against Watford, Newcastle and Leicester City in the remaining fixtures.
