Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has reacted with astonishment to Jose Mourinho leaving Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial out of his team to take on Tottenham Hotspur.

Red Devils boss Mourinho has decided to leave both Martial and Rashford on the bench for the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Instead the Portuguese tactician has selected an attacking unit of Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, as he hunts a spot for his side in the final.

And Hargreaves is shocked that Mourinho has overlooked Martial and Rashford.

The former Manchester United midfielder said on BT Sport Score: "Where's Rashford, where's Martial?

"I can't believe they are not playing.

"Tottenham can dominate possession and Man United can play on the break.

"I feel sorry for Martial, Sanchez coming in and taking his spot", Hargreaves added.

Martial has struggled for playing time since Manchester United splashed the cash to buy Sanchez from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

As a result the French attacker has been linked with quitting Old Trafford in the summer, with Serie A sides consistently linked with wanting to take him to Italy.
