Roma star Radja Nainggolan has insisted that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah always possessed the qualities of a top player, but he has become more clinical this season.

Salah was Nainggolan’s team mate at Roma before leaving the club for Liverpool last summer and his first season as a Red has shocked many observers as the winger was never known for his goalscoring exploits.

But 40 goals in 45 appearances this season has more than repaid Jurgen Klopp’s trust in him and he is the player in focus ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final tie against Roma next week.

Nainggolan remains a fan of his former team mate, both at a professional and personal level, and believes the Egyptian always had the qualities to be a top player.

The Roma midfielder believes Salah has added a certain ruthlessness to his game that has taken him to a new level this season.
