Scottish giants Rangers have been holding discussions with the representatives of Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield over a possible move to Ibrox in the summer.

The 29-year-old's contract with the Clarets expires this summer, meaning he could represent a bargain acquisition for clubs keen on snapping him up.

And the director of football at Rangers, Mark Allen, is keen on signing the winger on a pre-contract agreement, according to STV.

The Canada international arrived at Burnley in 2013 from Huddersfield Town and played an important role in helping his side gain promotion to the English top division two seasons ago.

He also featured for Burnley heavily last season, playing in a total of 31 league games for them and scoring a lone goal.
