Roma president James Pallotta is convinced that the Giallorossi can go toe-to-toe with Liverpool in the Champions League and says they have shown they can raise their level.

The Serie A giants put Barcelona out in the quarter-final of the competition and are due to take on Liverpool in the semi-final, with the first leg set for Tuesday night at Anfield.

Liverpool are widely seen as strong favourites to progress to the final, but Pallotta is in confident mood and is sure Roma can again raise their game to mix it with Europe's best.

"My impression is that Roma are able to make the leap in quality when needed, as in the Champions League", Pallotta was quoted as saying by Italian news agency ANSA.

"We know the qualities of [Mohamed] Salah and the other Liverpool players", he continued.
