Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is preparing for an emotional meeting with his former club Roma and admits playing against the Giallorossi will be special.

Salah left Roma to join Liverpool last summer and has shocked fans in his first season in England, scoring 41 goals in all competitions for the Merseyside giants.

The Egyptian has also been instrumental in Liverpool’s run to the Champions League semi-finals, but familiar faces stand between him and the final next month in Kyiv.

Liverpool have been drawn to face his former side Roma in the semi-final and ahead of tonight’s first leg at Anfield, the forward admits that he is feeling a little emotional.

Salah admits that he had a great time during his three-year stint with Roma and still has a number of friends in the squad who he will be looking to overcome over the two legged semi-final.

Asked about how his feelings ahead of the Roma game, the Egyptian told LFC TV: "I played at Roma for three years, I had a great time with the club and the fans.

"I fought for them and now I have to play against them.

"I text Roma players every week, we are still good friends and I am very excited to go there. I love the fans and they love me.

"So it will be emotional."
