Manchester United legend Paddy Crerand has questioned Tottenham Hotspur’s ability and attitude to produce on big occasions and when under pressure.

Tottenham lost their eighth FA Cup semi-final on the trot when they went down 2-1 to Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday as they again failed to produce on the biggest stage.

Mauricio Pochettino played down the importance of the FA Cup before the game and the Tottenham players failed to match Manchester United’s intensity once Jose Mourinho’s men took the lead in the second half.

Crerand admits that he was fearing the worst when Tottenham took the early lead, but believes their old habit of succumbing under pressure came to the fore once Manchester United started to dictate terms in the game.

He insisted Tottenham fold whenever they are faced with the prospect of battling to get a win on a big stage.

The former Red Devils said on MUTV’s The Paddy Crerand Show: “The funny thing is when they scored you are thinking, ‘God almighty’ as they had played well up to that point.

“But down through the years you always think when it comes to a battle, Spurs will chuck it."

Manchester United will face Chelsea, last year’s finalists too, in the FA Cup final at Wembley on 19th May.
