Jurgen Klopp admits that Roma could not cope with Liverpool's attacking play in their 5-2 Champions League semi-final first leg win at Anfield, but concedes that letting in two late goals has led to a less than positive feeling.

Liverpool took the lead in the 36th minute when Mohamed Salah struck, the forward being fed by Roberto Firmino and curling the ball past Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

The Reds were putting Roma under the cosh and Dejan Lovren then headed against the crossbar from a corner just two minutes later.

Roma were hoping not to concede again before half time and almost made it, but Salah grabbed his second on the stroke of the break, again combining well with Firmino to then clip into the net.

It was 3-0 in the 56th minute, Sadio Mane striking, the Senegalese having good work from Salah to thank as he slotted in a ball across goal from the Egyptian.

A fourth arrived for Liverpool in the 62nd minute, when Salah sped down the right flank and found Roberto Firmino, who was left with a simple tap in.

And Roma were reeling in the 69th minute when it was 5-0, Firmino rising to head into the back of the net.

But then Liverpool ran out of steam and Edin Dzeko scored with nine minutes left to give Roma hope.

And when James Milner handled the ball in the penalty area, Diego Perotti scored from the spot to make it 5-2 and give the Italians hope heading into the second leg.

It finished 5-2 and Liverpool boss Klopp feels his men did superbly for around 80 minutes.

He told BT Sport: "Long term perfect performance for pretty much 80 minutes or so.

"We made defensively one mistake. Penalty is not a penalty, but that is the situation and now it is 5-2.

"Of course we would have been more happy with 5-0 or 5-1, but 5-2 is a fantastic result. We go there and try again.

"We had all these runs behind, it changed the game completely and they couldn't cope with that.

"We scored these goals and could have scored more.

"That is all positive, at this moment it doesn't feel all positive because they scored these two goals, but tomorrow I will see the really good part of the game", Klopp stressed.

"It is absolutely better than I thought before the game, but at the moment of course a little mistake."
