Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has hit out at criticism of the club's post-season tour to Burma and insisted football has no politics.

The Whites announced on Tuesday morning that they are travelling to the country in May and will play two friendly matches, one on the 9th May and one on the 11th May.

Given there has been severe political unrest in the Asian country, Leeds' decision has brought condemnation and criticism, though Amnesty International stopped short of telling the club they should not make the trip.

Leeds were branded "disgraceful" by one Twitter user, while another accused Radrizzani of wanting to simply sell more shirts.

The Leeds owner could not hold back, insisting the opposite is true and replied: "Such a stupid thought!

"It's actually the opposite.

"Football bring[s] joy and has no politics.

"I am happy to go in[to] developing countries and support local football and engage with [the] local community."

Leeds appear to still be pressing ahead with their trip to Burma, despite being criticised for arranging it, and Radrizzani is showing no sign of wanting to rethink the club's post-season tour.

The Whites' first opponents on the tour will be an MNL All Star team, while they will play the Burma national team to cap off the trip.
