Former Hibernian forward Tam McManus believes that managing a Championship side, such as Aston Villa or Middlesbrough, is tougher than taking charge of Celtic or Rangers.

Ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is rapidly closing in on leading Celtic to an historic double treble, with the Bhoys on the brink of adding the Scottish Premiership title to the Scottish League Cup, while they are in the final of the Scottish Cup.

Rangers have suffered managerial change however, with Pedro Caixinha sacked earlier this season and replaced by youth boss Graeme Murty, who is himself tipped to be shown the door in the summer.

Replying to comments attributed to former Celtic and Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan claiming when a manager has taken charge of the Bhoys they can cope with managing anywhere, McManus disagreed.

The former Hibs man wrote on Twitter: "For me far easier to be a manager at Celtic or Rangers (when it was competitive) than a Bolton, Middlesbrough, Villa etc in minefield of English Championship.

Rodgers' achievements in Scottish football have been questioned by some due to the perceived strength of the Premiership.

Celtic are set to seal a seventh league title in a row this season and now have their eyes firmly set on marching on to claim a record ten league titles in a row, with confidence high Rodgers will stay to guide the Bhoys over the line.
