Rangers appear to have received a boost if they wish to appoint Frank de Boer as their new manager with claims the Dutchman is not keen to take a job back in the Eredivisie.

De Boer led Ajax to four consecutive Eredivisie titles between 2011 and 2014, but has since had difficult spells at Inter and Crystal Palace, respectively, which have ended in his sacking.

It had been thought the Eredivisie could represent the easiest route for De Boer to slot back into management and he has been linked with Heerenveen, a job Marco van Basten took after a break following his departure from Ajax.

But according to Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur, it does not appear De Boer is keen on his next job being back in the Eredivisie, with the former Rangers player looking elsewhere.

De Boer has been linked with a return to Rangers, who are expected to be looking for a new manager to take over following the expiry of Graeme Murty's deal in the summer.

The Dutchman recently admitted that he is ready to return to management, but it is unclear whether Rangers want him in charge and whether he would take the job.

But with an Eredivisie return not high on De Boer's agenda, the Gers' hopes, if they do want De Boer, have been boosted.
