Former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says he has been made an offer he thinks he cannot refuse, as he hinted he may be preparing to return to management.

Van Gaal has not worked since being sacked by Manchester United in 2016, despite being linked with a number of jobs.

But despite two years out of the game, the 66-year-old has not officially retired and revealed he has received a number of offers to jump back into management.

And now the Dutchman has confirmed that one of the offers is one he feels he cannot turn down, but if he does then the path to retirement will be swift.

"I cannot say that", Van Gaal said on Ziggo Sport when asked if he is retired, "I still get a lot of offers. Although that sounds very annoying for many people. But that's just that.

"Now I have an offer that I cannot refuse, I think."

And Van Gaal added: "If I am still not working in July, August, I will definitely retire."

It remains to be seen where Van Gaal might return to work and whether he will have another spell in the Premier League.

The Dutchman also counts Ajax, the Netherlands, Barcelona, AZ Alkmaar and Bayern Munich amongst his former clubs.
