West Ham custodian Adrian believes that it is time for him to take his opportunity due to Joe Hart not being eligible to play against Manchester City.

The 31-year-old is expected to be between the sticks for West Ham's game against the newly crowned champions this weekend, with Hart set to miss out against the side to whom he is contracted.

The former Real Betis player insists that it is an ideal opportunity for him to cash in and he is ready, while he plans to help his team secure valuable points which will be useful in the battle for survival.

“Obviously I am ready to help the team and to help us get some good points and to be safe as soon as possible", the goalkeeper told his club's official website.

Adrian though does not want the appearance against Manchester City to be his only one as he aims to play in each of the remaining games of the season and in the process impress his manager David Moyes.

“I want to be in the team until the end of the season and to show everyone that I am still here and performing at a good level. I will always do my best on the pitch.

“I feel I am more than ready to play. I was waiting for the opportunity to play after my last game, so I have been working with intensity and so hard over the last few weeks and now my moment has arrived.

“This is a different situation because Joe can’t play, but nevertheless it is an opportunity for me to play and I have to show how I am now.”

The Hammers are currently placed 15th in the league table with 35 points from 34 games and lead relegation battlers Southampton by six points.
