The chances of Juventus midfield target Emre Can signing a new contract with Liverpool have gone up in recent days, according to Turin-based daily Tuttosport.

The Italian champions have been on Can’s tail for over a year and at certain points over recent months they were confident of getting a deal over the line without any hitches.

Jurgen Klopp was said to have given up hope of keeping the German midfielder and it was more or less accepted that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season on a free transfer.

However, Can has continued to keep his options open by insisting that he has not been thinking about his future and Juventus have become less confident of getting their hands on him.

While his representatives have reportedly agreed a contract with the Bianconeri, Can is yet to give his final nod to the move and it has been claimed that he may even continue at Liverpool.

There are suggestions that while it is improbable Can will sign a new contract with Liverpool at a late stage, the scenario has not been ruled out completely.

It is understood that Can is yet to take a definitive decision over his future and he has not ruled out the possibility of signing a new contract.

He is currently nursing a back injury, but is expected to be fit to play for Germany in the World Cup.
