Clint Hill has admitted he did not see Steven Gerrard taking charge of Rangers coming, if reports the Liverpool youth coach is to be named Gers boss are correct.

Gerrard has been linked with taking over at Rangers, who are expected to part ways with current manager Graeme Murty in the summer.

Speculation moved up a notch on Tuesday night when Rangers supremo Dave King was spotted in the stands at Anfield for Liverpool's Champions League semi-final first leg clash against Roma.

Gerrard was also at Anfield, on duty for TV channel BT Sport.

Former Rangers defender Hill admits he did not see the possibility of Gerrard taking over at Ibrox coming down the line.
