Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier believes that he still needs improvement in every position he is asked to operate in to reach the highest level possible.

The 24-year-old arrived in England in 2014 and has since become an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino's side, playing in a total of 180 games so far, scoring eight goals.

During his time at the club Dier has been employed in different roles, sometimes in defence and sometimes in the heart of the midfield.

The 24-year-old is keeping humble about his involvement with the team and insists that he still has time on his side to make sure that he keeps learning the essentials of the game and improve in all the areas that he is required to operate in.

“I have to improve in every area if I want to reach the highest level, wherever it is I play position-wise", Dier told his club's official website.

“I need to keep improving and I believe I can, so it’s up to me to keep working hard and keep trying to improve and reach the highest level I can.

"I’m 24 now, I feel like I’ve a few years ahead of me where I can do that.

The midfielder also took time to point out the fact that improvement is a continuous process which continues until a player hangs up their boots.

“You can improve every year until you retire. If you look at the standard Jan Vertonghen is playing at now, it’s incredible.

"He’s the best centre-back in the Premier League. He’s just turned 31.

"You can constantly improve and constantly get better and I’ve got to keep trying to do that.”

Dier has so far featured in 32 out of 34 league games for the north Londoners, providing his team-mates with two assists.
