Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says he is delighted for Steven Gerrard, with the Liverpool legend set to take charge of Rangers.

Gerrard is expected to be announced as Rangers' new manager on Friday afternoon and is claimed to have signed a three-year contract with the Gers in what will be his first senior managerial post.

He will come up against his former manager at Liverpool in the shape of Rodgers, with the Northern Irishman ruling the roost with Celtic north of the border and standing on the brink of leading the Bhoys to a double treble.

And Rodgers insists he is pleased to see Gerrard take his first managerial job.

Speaking at a press conference, Rodgers said: "I am delighted for him.

"I am sure he will be looking forward to his first job.

"I am happy that he now enters into my world of coaching and managing."

Gerrard will be charged with ending Celtic's dominance of Scottish football, which means he will have to get the better of his former manager.

Rodgers meanwhile has collected Celtic's seventh title in a row this season and the Bhoys are edging closer to what would be an historic ten titles in a row.
