New Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has insisted that his lack of experience in top level management won’t be a hindrance for him at Ibrox.

The Glasgow giants confirmed on Friday afternoon that Gerrard agreed a four-year deal to become the next Rangers manager and the club are looking forward to ushering in a new chapter.

Gerrard only walked into the world of coaching last year when he took charge of the Liverpool Under-18s at the start of the season and lacks experience at the top level.

Concerns have been raised about the former Liverpool captain getting such a high profile job at an early stage of his career as many believe Rangers need a more experienced hand.

However, the former England captain is not worried about his lack of experience and believes his successful playing career will stand him in good stead at Rangers.

Asked about his lack of experience, Gerrard said in a press conference: “It’s not an issue for me.

"It seems to be an issue for other people. I can’t do anything about not having experience.

“I have played in big football matches and I have worked under some very big managers.

“There’s only one way to get experience.”

Gerrard will take charge of Rangers officially on 1st June.
