Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino believes that newly appointed Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will need to transfer his ideas onto the pitch and convince the players to follow him.

The Gers confirmed the former Liverpool midfielder as their new manager on Friday with the 37-year-old putting pen-to-paper to a four-year deal which will come to effect from 1st June.

Pochettino, who himself was relatively young when he started off his coaching career with Espanyol in 2009, took time to give advice to Gerrard on the key areas of management.

According to the Argentine, it will be important for the former midfielder to convince the players to follow him and in the process build up a good working relationship with the staff and everyone associated with the club.

"First of all it is to translate your ideas and convince the players to follow you – and not only the players", the Tottenham manager said at a press conference.
