Rangers midfielder Sean Goss admits that the Gers players are looking forward to a fresh start under Steven Gerrard next season.

The Glasgow giants confirmed Gerrard’s appointment as their manager on a four-year deal starting in the summer and the club are looking forward to turning a page in the club’s history under the Liverpool legend.

The former midfielder will take charge of the squad on 1st June, but Rangers are involved in a three-way battle with Aberdeen and Hibernian for a chance to finish second behind champions Celtic.

However, Goss believes Gerrard’s appointment has given an impetus to the players to work even harder and make sure they are in a better position to start afresh in the summer under the new Rangers boss.

The midfielder told Rangers TV when asked about Gerrard’s impact: “It’s massive for everyone at the football club.

“It is big for Scottish football as well. Someone with his experience in football, has definitely given everyone a lift.

“The boys are trying to do everything from now until the end of the season to start next season fresh and in a good position.”

Gerrard has confirmed that Gary McAllister will be his number two at Rangers and he is expected to receive significant sums in the summer to retool the squad.
